History of the cidade Komárom

Komárom is on the Hungarian Small Plain, where the branches of the Danube and Vág river branches meet. Its fortress was never occupied by the Turks, and as the last refuge of the late revolution that October 1849. Its commander general György Klapka was so famous that in the name of the American writer Jerome K. Jerome the "K." means "Klapka". The Austrian monarchy built an underground fortress at the end of the 19th century: The Monostori Fortress which was the trench against the Russian attack on Vienna. The favorable geographical situation of the city at the age when river transport was the most secure made Komárom the fifth city of Hungary in the 18th century. The city was divided between Hungary and Slovakia for peace after the world wars. The Hungarian-speaking cities in Slovakia Komárno on the north side and Komárom on the south side of the Danube are connected by a bridge. We can walk, with taxi, the tourist van.

Plan of the excursion

What can we target with eleven year old boys? In the center of North the hussar leaving the town hall tower with his playing trumpet the March of Klapka:
"The famous Komárom has been taken.
Your general commander is Jorge Klapka.
Thunders the cannon, the sword end,
Forward, Hungarians, into battle! "

In the center of South we aim at the Maritime Museum! End the day in the spa! I had planned the route on the map.

Diary of the excursion

I marked the good and bad restaurants I had with my wife. We agreed with my daughter Ana from the meeting point. She appeared with her son Miguel and with her son Gabriel. The train left Kelenföld station with thirty minutes delay . We arrived in Komárom with passenger train at 11:20. Let's start on the other side in the bigger square with the hussar. As we waited for hour 12, I spotted the tourist van parked in front of Klapka Restaurant. We need to wait for your departure. I watched the visitors, the foods. The van went near Monostori Fortress, the Riding Room, the lakes within the city, the unguided spa station, and returned to Klapka Restaurant. We had lunch here. I ate duck with plum pastries and fruits. Anne and the boys ate interesting dish, too. We walked to the Navy Museum, which the boys spend a lot of time. The ultimate program was the spa. I swam in the 24 degree deep pool. We had dinner stuffed tortillas with stew. I got home at 21:15. I made a shower and fell off the bed.
